Rwanda Polytechnic (RP), under the championship of IPRC-Karongi, together with Maastricht School of Management (MSM) and Rwanda Development Board (RDB) through Strengthening Education for Agricultural Development (SEAD-West) project, organized a Scientific Symposium on “Applied Research for Agricultural Development in Rwanda”. The symposium took place on 28th March 2023 at Ubumwe Grand Hotel, Kigali.
The symposium brought together around 100 participants, including researchers, professionals, policymakers, private sector actors & innovators. It was organized in a form of a mixture of opening remarks, panel discussions, keynote speeches, parallel sessions, papers presentations and exhibition boot.
This symposium aimed at disseminating Research and Innovation outputs from RP research community and beyond. It served as an avenue to bring together applied research relevant for the agricultural and rural development of Rwanda, and a platform for researchers to share their research outputs and get feedback that can help them to improve their manuscripts for further publication steps.
Moreover, the symposium was an exposure opportunity for young innovators from RP Colleges who showcased their innovative projects to different categories of stakeholders from national and international institutions.
About 24 manuscripts in different areas of research relevant to RP research and teaching disciplines were presented and more than 12 innovative projects were exhibited by both students and academic staff.
