OVERVIEW

Rwanda Polytechnic was established by the Government of Rwanda in 2017 to implement Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills development across the country. The Government of Rwanda (GoR) has been focusing on a development agenda aimed at transforming Rwanda and the expansion of the TVET system with collaboration from development partners, private sector actors, and civil society is part of this initiative.

Vice-Chancellor

Dr. MUCYO Sylvie

Vice-Chancellor

Dr. Sylvie Mucyo is currently serving as Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Mucyo has served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Rwanda Polytechnic, the Deputy Coordinator and student manager of University of Rwanda and Sweden research bilateral cooperation, as a researcher and a lecturer of Environmental Sciences at the University of Rwanda (UR), College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Mucyo is an environmental scientist by training. She graduated with a PhD Degree in Applied Environmental Sciences/Solid Waste Management from Abertay University, Dundee, Scotland in 2013; a MSc in Environmental Biotechnology from the same University in 2009 and a Bachelor’s degree of Biology from the former National University of Rwanda in 2007.  Dr. Sylvie Mucyo is an expert in Solid Waste Management/Biowaste management and has more than 10 year’s experience in academic leadership.

Dipl. Ing Ephrem MUSONERA

The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research and Institutional Advancement (DVC ARIA)

Dipl.-Ing. Ephrem MUSONERA is the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research and Institutional Advancement (DVC ARIA) at Rwanda Polytechnic since October 2023. Prior to that, he served as Principal of Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) Ngoma since September 2014 and Deputy principal in charge of Academics and Training at the same college since November 2012. Before joining the Academic leadership, Dipl.-Ing. Ephrem served as Head of Technical department at STRABAG GmbH/ Rwanda. He holds a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern/ Germany with specialization in Structural Engineering.

Mr. Jean Pierre NKURANGA

The Deputy Vice- Chancellor in charge of Administration and Finance

Jean Pierre has a BA in Economics from the National University of Rwanda and has Masters of Science in Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University for Agriculture and Technology. He acquired knowledge and professional skills through various fields of training in Rwanda, US and Israel.

Jean Pierre has more than 22 years of working experience providing Leadership, Professional and Technical expertise in the Management of Socio-Economic Development and Educational Projects. He has vast experience in the management of High Learning Institutions and skilled in conducting Audit, Operations, Public Administration, Planning, Finance, Human Resource, Public Procurement and Assets Management.

Jean Pierre has worked as an employee and a consultant for different organizations including Government Institutions, local and international NGOs and USAID-funded project.

Today, Jean Pierre is a Cabinet appointee as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration and Finance at Rwanda Polytechnic (RP).

Aside professional job, Jean Pierre has over 26 years of active civic engagement in local communities and in civil society organizations supporting disadvantaged people.

He likes Reading, Farming, coaching Life Skills to Youth (4 H approach, https://youtu.be/P7FE-ThdPuI), Social and Community Service activities.
