Rwanda Polytechnic and JICA Launch a Project entitled “Quality Education Towards Social Transformation”

On November 3rd, 2023, at Rwanda Polytechnic from 1:30pm, Dr. Sylvie MUCYO the Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic and Ms. SHIOTSUKA Minako the Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Rwanda Office, signed the Record of Discussions (R/D) (for a technical cooperation agreement) that will enable the launch of the Project named “Quality Education towards Social Transformation.”

The purpose of the project is to strengthened RP/IPRC’s function to provide high quality education with emerging technologies so that graduates will be equipped with skills that respond to the market demand. The project’s support include the conduction of a market needs analysis on the demanded skills for better matching between the demanded and RP/IPRCs graduates’ skills which may result to the improvement of curriculum by introduction of pilot modules; Capacity building to improve quality of programs delivery and for smooth implementation of Bachelor of Technology (BTech);  promoting RP – Industry engagement and collaboration with other national and international institutions to improve soft skills, practical skills, and entrepreneurial ability.

For nearly a decade, JICA has supported IPRC Tumba through technical cooperation projects to implement the institution on the job trainings, staff trainings, provided equipment to enable the students and staff to strengthen their hands-on capacities.

This time JICA channeled its support to Rwanda Polytechnic Colleges (IPRCs) that are spread across the country to specifically contribute to the enhancement of quality education, produce graduates that responds to the ICT market needs in society. This project will also benefit Rwanda’s market lead skills development, resulting to high valued RP/IPRCs graduates poised to drive the economic growth especially in the fourth industry revolution and AI era.
