Rwanda Coding Academy receives its first students
Nyabihu, Western Province: Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA) received its first 60 students on 3rd February 2019.

Rwanda Coding Academy aims to address in more sustainable manner, producing a pool of top-end experts in the field of software engineering in order to address the current shortages of software developers on Rwandan market and the region. The school comes to respond to the recommendations of the “Rwanda Digital Talent Policy” as approved by the Cabinet in April 2018; The “Digital Talent Policy” calls for initiatives to strengthen a framework of ICT training and qualification in Rwanda, placing emphasis on hands-on and market oriented ICT skills, specifically introducing software programming to learners at elementary levels in order to address current shortages of software developers on market.
The mission of the Rwanda coding academy is to train young talented and gifted Rwandans in software programing, promote quality and excellence in coding skills and to position Rwanda as software development talent hub.
The academy has attended by students who are “Born to Code “that have completed ordinary level (Lower secondary) to undertake a 3 years’ graduation software engineering course, specifically in the field of software programing, embedded programing and cyber-security. Among the complementary subjects shall include Mathematics, Entrepreneurship, English and French languages among others
The students studying at Rwanda Coding Academy are categorized as a hybrid of both TVET and General education where shall complete year 3 qualified as software engineers and will have adequate skills to be absorbed into the job market.
Rwanda Coding Academy will comfort Rwanda in producing a pool of local engineers; raising the quality of software programing; preparing for the new edge wave of high-tech and stimulating entrepreneurship.
