MoU signed between RP and Vision Garment Ltd on Partnership Leading to Skills Development in Textile & Garments Manufacturing
On 4th March 2019 marked the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Rwanda Polytechnic(RP) and Vision Garment Ltd where 475 people will be trained in making mosquito nets and garments containing 300 of them in Rapid Response Training(RRT) and the remaining 175 in Industrial Based Training(IBT).
Dr. James Gashumba, the Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic said that they want to build the capacities of local human resources.
“Through National Employment Programme(NEP), we want to build the capacities of the local human resources as a part of the government’s policies to promote Made in Rwanda and create more jobs for youth.” Dr. Gashumba said
He added that at least Rfw 703,158 will be spent on each of the trainees for four months and this will be followed up by 17 of the factory’s employees to China, in study tour and gain experience.

The Chairperson of Vision Garment Ltd, Jean Bosco Minega Rwigema, said that the factory will help Rwandans to get job and decrease in the demand from outside countries.
MoU signed has the following specific objective of providing short courses in textile and garments manufacturing for women and youth generation; identifying, training, assessing and certifying level of practical skills in line with the Qualification Framework; producing nationally and internationally competent technicians in the fields and supporting and enhancing profession network in training activities related to production of garments meet international and local market.
Over 2800 workers from different factories supported through National Employment Programme and 60 per cent are women.
