“Job opportunity is for TVET Students’’ Minister Munyakazi said

The Minister of state in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education Dr. Isaac Munyakazi says that nowdays job opportunity is for TVET students. He made a recall on Wednesday, 23rd October 2019, while visiting candidates who are sitting for National TVET Practical exams and Comprehensive assessment level 3 & 4 in College de Bethel APARUDE and Lycee de Ruhango Ikirezi in Ruhango district.

Dr. Isaac Munyakazi said that since January 2017, the Ministry of Education through Workforce Development Authority (WDA) launched the implementation of Competence Based Curricula (CBC) in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Schools countrywide. And Rwanda Polytechnic was tasked to administer TVET Examinations at National Level.

He further expressed that the Ministry of Education wants to put more effort in practical rather than comprehensive assessment whether they ensure that students will be able to compete on the labor market after completing their studies.

“We used to give comprehensive assessment and we have provided certificates to our students but in reality some students seem too difficult for them to put into practice what they have drown from schools. That’s why we want to put more effort in practical assessment to ensure that our students will be able to put into practice what they have studied when they will get on the labor market”. Dr. Isaac Munyakazi said.
