On this 8th October 2019, Hon. Minister of Education Dr. Eugene Mutimura launched National TVET Practical Examinations for Level 5. The launch took place at Nyamirama TVET School located in Kayonza district.
Dr. Eugene Mutimura , the Minister of Education said the Examinations are well prepared and expects that the the process will be successful. He further said that teachers have to base on practicals than theories in papers as make students be more benefit.
He further expressed that it’s the first time the students are doing the exams individually. Previously it used to be done in groups.
“In the past years, the students used to be in groups and were given 25 minutes to explain what they could do, but now, the exam comprises of giving enough time to a student to do what he /she is in charge to do whether installing a machine in the industry or installing a solar panel, among others.” He expressed
It’s the first time the students are doing the exams individually.
Leonard Manirambona, the National Coordinator of TVET practical examination at Rwanda Polytechnic said the exams will be carried in 34 trades namely Plumbing, masonry, industrial electricity, hospitality, tailoring, welding to name but a few.
He also said that there is also a uniqueness; it is the first time people lerning professional football such as match officiating are doing exams.
A total of 19.336 including 18,390 school candidates and 946 private candidates were registred to sit for practical assessment.
